Nearly 1,500 keiki in four age group divisions were registered for the Solid Rock Ministries 23rd annual Easter Egg Hunt Saturday at the Old Kona Airport Park soccer field.
The 1,478 children age infant to 11 years rushed the field in their age category to collect their share of the 50,000 plastic filled eggs on the field. Eggs were filled with candy and inspirational messages as well as 3,000 eggs containing a special “prize.” A drawing was held after the hunt with age category prizes such as bikes, skate boards, iPods and even a TV. A total of 365 kids in the 9-to 11-year-old division broke a record by collecting 12,500 eggs in a blazing fast 57 seconds.
In addition to the “egg rush,” keiki and their parents were treated to breakfast pastries, shaved ice, face painting and games.
